Take a Kid Fishing

July 16th, 2022
11am-1pm

Children ages 5-12 can learn about water safety, how to cast, how to identify fish, and hopefully how to catch them! Fish off the public pier with poles and bait provided the DNR and WLCA. Participants will be assisted by neighborhood volunteers. All children must be accompanied by an adult. “Take a Kid Fishing” is sponsored by WLCA, MN Department of Natural Resources, and the Maple Grove Days Community Organization.

We are looking for volunteers from our Weaver Lake community to help with this event and make it memorable for all the children who participate. The more volunteers the better! Some years we have a lot of help and some years we are running very low by the end of the clinic. Volunteers are needed for welcoming, instructing, art/craft table, baiting hooks, taking off fish, sharing fishing tips, and general assistance throughout the event. Please let us know if you and your family would like to volunteer! You will be provided a Maple Grove Days T-shirt and will have access to a local restaurant filled catering room at the Community Center that afternoon. Volunteer RSVP's can be emailed back to board@wlca.org and any questions are welcome to Karson Frokjer at 612-414-1528 or kfrokjer@hotmail.com
