Filamentous Algae Test Plots

With the support of the City of Maple Grove, the WLCA will once again work on solutions to reduce our internal nutrient loading and limit algae growth. In the early spring 2020, another test plot of 1 acre will be treated with an algicide and Phoslock. The objective of the plot is to show water quality improvement and provide research knowledge that can be used for improving Weaver Lake for years to come.

In 2019, the WLCA conducted a test on two three acres plots with different treatments that might help control the Filamentous Algae issue around the lake. Both of these products are completely safe and are often used to reduce the phosphorus loads which the filamentous algae uses for food.
